Waking the Nilings…
Independent game studio
We build small, strange, warm-hearted worlds — and the odd little creatures that live in them.
Nilext Studio is an independent team of eleven building cosy, slightly uncanny games. We write our own engines when we have to, draw everything by hand when we can, and ship worlds you can wander for an evening or lose a season to. Every one of them is home to the Nilings — the small creatures that started as a doodle in our logo and refused to leave.
Four disciplines, one room, no handoffs. Here is what goes into a Nilext world before it ever gets a title screen.
01
Every project starts as a map and a rumour. We build the geography, the weather and the folklore first, then find the game hiding inside it.
02
Hand-painted backdrops, chunky rounded shapes and one warm accent — the same coral that runs through our mark. Nothing ships until it reads at a glance.
03
A small in-house toolchain: deterministic simulation, hot-reloading content, and editors our designers actually enjoy opening. 60fps on a five-year-old laptop.
04
Launch is the first patch. Seasonal events, player-run festivals and a devlog that admits what broke — our worlds keep growing after release.
Fifteen Niling families, hundreds of coats, ears, eyes and patterns — combined, they make an almost endless cast. Every world we ship draws its own from the same pool.
Six standalone games, one shared universe. Each world has its own rules, its own weather and its own resident Nilings — and anything you tame in one turns up as a cameo in the next.

One pass, every world we have ever shipped — plus the ones still in the oven.
The Arcade Pass is how Nilext stays independent. It carries your Nilings, your saves and your cosmetics across every title, and it never expires.
Pass holders get playtest builds two seasons early, a vote on what we prototype next, and a seat in the studio Discord where the devlog gets written out loud.
